About the Branch

The Royal Signals Association Southport Branch supports Royal Signals veterans, serving personnel, reservists, families, and friends throughout Southport, Sefton, and West Lancashire. Our branch exists to maintain the strong bonds of friendship and comradeship that are a hallmark of service in the Royal Corps of Signals. We provide a welcoming environment where members can stay connected with former colleagues, make new friendships, and remain part of the wider Royal Signals family.

Whether you served for a few years or completed a full military career, our branch welcomes individuals from all generations of service. We are proud to honour the traditions, values, and achievements of the Royal Corps of Signals while supporting the needs of today’s veterans and serving personnel.

Branch History

The Southport Branch has a long tradition of bringing together members of the Royal Signals community from across the region. Over the years, the branch has supported veterans from many different periods of service, from those who served during the world war II  to personnel involved in more recent operations around the world.

Through remembrance activities, commemorative events, and social gatherings, the branch helps preserve the history and heritage of the Royal Corps of Signals. Members are encouraged to share their stories and experiences, ensuring that the contribution of Signals personnel to the British Army continues to be recognised and remembered by future generations.

Monthly Meetings

The Southport Branch holds regular monthly meetings where members can meet socially, discuss branch activities, hear updates from the Royal Signals Association, and share experiences with fellow members. These gatherings provide an opportunity to maintain friendships forged during military service and to welcome new members into the branch.

Meetings often include guest speakers, presentations on military history, updates on veterans’ issues, and information about local community events. Members are encouraged to attend regularly, but there is no obligation, and everyone is welcome whenever they are able to join us.

Branch Meetings & Social Events

Throughout the year, the Southport Branch organises and participates in a variety of events. These may include social gatherings, veterans’ reunions, remembrance services, Armed Forces Day celebrations, charity fundraising activities, and visits to places of military interest.

Events provide opportunities for members, families, and supporters to come together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Details of upcoming meetings and activities are regularly updated on our website, and visitors are encouraged to check back frequently for the latest information.

If you live in Southport, Sefton, West Lancashire, or the surrounding area and would like to learn more about becoming a member, please contact the branch or attend one of our meetings. We look forward to welcoming you and helping you stay connected with the Royal Signals family.

Veterans Support

Supporting veterans is one of the most important functions of the Royal Signals Association. The Southport Branch aims to provide practical assistance, guidance, and signposting for former service personnel who may require support. We recognise that veterans can face a range of challenges after leaving the Armed Forces, including health concerns, social isolation, welfare issues, and access to specialist services.

While the branch is not a professional welfare organisation, we can help members connect with appropriate military charities, veterans’ organisations, and support networks. We also offer the friendship and understanding that comes from shared military experience, helping former Royal Signals personnel remain connected to a supportive community.

Community

A welcoming local branch

Our branch is dedicated to preserving the values of service, comradeship, remembrance, and community while providing friendship, welfare support, and social activities for members of the Armed Forces family. By joining the RSA Southport community, you can take part in remembrance events, branch meetings, fundraising activities, and local veteran support initiatives that make a real difference.

Through shared activities, friendship and practical signposting, the branch helps people stay connected, informed and involved in the Southport area.
